Project T/A Update – Tail lights
Posted Mar 30th, 2008 8:15PM by ScottTail lights tail lights, rolly polly tail lights. The more research and looking that I’ve done over the years, I really liked the 1979-81 tail lights because of the smooth one piece and smoked look. The tail lights on my 1980 are sun bleached and cracked. Finding a good set of tail lights proved to be a huge pain in the butt. Brett located the nicest set he could find, and they had a very small crack. So, after looking at more photos of the 77-78′s, I saw something I’ve never noticed before. There is a metal frame that goes over the left and right tail lights, and they look pretty darn cool. The more I looked at them, the more I felt that I preferred this look over the 79-81′s.After a call to Brett, he verified that they’re just metal frames that are installed over the tail lights. He said that he could switch them over to be a 78 rear, and I gave him the “ok”. Brett said no problem and that he already had the parts in stock. The project at this time is frozen. Brett has to get cars that arrived before mine finished, especially those that are going to participate in the Bandit Run. Since I am not participating, I agreed to wait. We’re shooting for June for the project to be completed.
“My Classic Car” on the Speed channel featured YearOne stopping by with some parts that they manufacture. I have to say that I like the nose and tail is made from fiberglass and you can buy a BRAND NEW leather wrapped steering wheel. Not to mention the BEAUTIFUL aluminum dash plate and the enhanced sail panels.
